(Omitting the chains of narrators) Jabir says: I was walking on the banks of the Euphrates in the company of Hazrat Ali (a). Suddenly a wave arose and it surrounded Hazrat Ali (a) in such a way that I was unable to see him. Then the wave returned to the river and the Hazrat was standing at the same spot while not even his clothes got wet.
I was amazed at this sight and I inquired from him about it. He said: Did you see him?
Yes, I replied.
He said: He was the angel appointed on water. He emerged from the water saluted me and then hugged me.1
