Amr bin Qarza bin Kaab was from the progeny of Ansar (Helpers) of
Medina. He was present in Kerbala with Imam Husain (a.s.) till the noon
of Ashura. He was among those who formed a human shield to protect
Imam Husain (a.s.) when he offered the Zuhr prayer.
Amr stopped the arrows with his chest as long as the Imam continued to
pray. He was hit with so many arrows that he could not bear the injuries
and he fell down. When Imam Husain (a.s.) came to him after the Prayer,
he was in the last moments of his life. He was thinking whether he had
fulfilled his duty or not. When Imam Husain (a.s.) reached near his head,
he asked the Imam only one thing, “O Aba Abdillah! Have I fulfilled the
right of loyalty?”
