The Wound of Siffin

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In Behaar ul Anwaar from Mohiuddin Ardabeli it is narrated that one day while I was sitting in the service of my father, I saw a man sitting in front of him taking a nap. Suddenly the turban fell from his head and a big wound appeared on his head.

My father asked “What is this wound for?” He replied, ” I got this wound in Siffin”. He (My father) said to him, “You are in today’s era and Siffin was in other era”.

He said, “I travelled to Egypt, A man from Gaza (during a night in desert) also joined me. On the way we started discussing about the battle of Siffin. My co-traveller said, If I was at Siffin, I would have quenched the thirst of my sword with the blood of Ali and His friends. I also said that if i was at the battle of Siffin, then I would have quenched the thirst of my sword with the blood of Muawiyah and his companions. Come on, you and I are friends of Ali (a.s) and Muawiyah (l.a) and we shall fight. We fell for each other’s life and literally we were fighting.

Once I felt that because of my injuries I have fainted. Just then I saw someone waking me up with a spear. Just when I opened my eyes (regained my conscious) he dismounted from his horse and put his hand on my head wound and at the same time my wound healed.

He then said, “Wait at this place” and he disappeared from my eyes. He then came with the head if my co-traveller on his horse and said “This is the head if your enemy. You gird up your loins to help us so we helped you. Thus Allah s.w.t. helps those who help Him.”

I asked, ” Who are you?”. He said “I am your Imam”. He then said “From today whoever ask’s you about this would, reply him that I got this wound in Siffin.”
