In another instance, a man (from Khawarij) and a woman
referred to Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) in their dispute.
Suddenly that Khariji man behaved harshly with that lady in the presence of HisEminence. His Eminence said: “Get away”1 Suddenly his head
changed into that of a dog.
Someone asked: “O Ameerul Momineen (a.s.), you scolded this Khariji and this happened, then what prevents you from destroying Muawiyah?”
He replied:
“What do you say?! If I want to bring Muawiyah from Shaam, I
will pray to God to bring Muawiyah here; but we are treasurers of
secrets of expediency in the matters of creatures, and not treasurers
of gold and silver. We are slaves subject to the commands of the
